Wyvil and the Arts News
At Wyvil, we are proud of the important partnerships we have developed with local artists and nationally recognised institutions such as the Southbank Centre, the Royal Ballet, the Young Vic Theatre and the Polka Theatre. We also have an ongoing programme of tuition and performances with Lambeth Music Services. We have a strong partnership with the Southbank Centre which comes with our status of 'Associate School'. This gives children of all ages at the school the opportunity to work in partnership with an internationally acclaimed Arts organisation on a regular basis.

Wyvil Welcomes New Instrument Teacher
We would like to wish a warm welcome to Miss Katherine Birtles who started as piano and flute teacher this week.
Katherine Birtles is an experienced and highly qualified music teacher. After attending Wells Cathedral School, where she gained a specialist music place, Katherine went on to gain ABSRM music teaching qualifications in both the piano and flute. Katherine has a patient and approachable teaching style but also a very good track record of preparing pupils for grades.
Katherine joins our team of music instrument tutors:
- Mr Anthony Facey who has done wonders with our steel pans tuition over the last year and led the 'Wyvil WIngs of Steel' group to very well receivedperformances at the Clore Ballroom in the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank and the Vauxhall Park Summer Fair.
- Miss Mazuka Yamomoto who tutors violin and viola (coming soon) and had success with a sizeable group of violinists who gained grades 1 to 3 last year
- Miss Lucy Sinclair a well established and highly regarded tutor at the school who teaches a number of pupils the clarinet and oboe (with notable grade exam success) and leads the junior choir.
Wyvil Wings of Steel Summer Performances
Well done to the Wyvil Wings of Steel group who performed at three events this summer term at the Vauxhall Summer Fair, the Royal Festival Hall as part of the Neighbourhood festival and the Year 6 Graduation evening here at Wyvil. We received many compliments on their playing. Our thanks to Mr Facey for arranging the repetoire and teaching the group so well and thanks also to parents for their support.
