Black History Month AT WYVIL

This October, Wyvil Primary School is proudly celebrating Black History Month across all our sites!
Throughout the month, pupils are taking part in a vibrant programme of workshops and activities exploring the rich contributions of Black people to British history, culture and innovation.
Highlights include:
-
Storytelling with Sandra Agard, bringing African and Caribbean tales to life.
-
Drama with Bigfoot Arts, introducing inspirational figures such as Ignatius Sancho and Olive Morris.
-
Music and drumming with Mr Facey, celebrating rhythm and cultural identity.
-
Art and sculpture with Art4Space, where pupils are creating clay “guardians” inspired by Nigerian artist Ben Enwonwu.
-
Anti-racism workshops with Champions for Change, empowering children to stand up for fairness and equality.
-
STEM focus sessions (Years 5–6), spotlighting Black Britons who’ve shaped science and technology.
These enriching experiences encourage creativity, empathy and pride, while inspiring every pupil to see themselves as future changemakers.
At Wyvil, Black History Month is more than a celebration – it’s a movement for learning, unity and inspiration.
