Speech and Language Therapy
The Centre has timetabled Speech and Language therapy intervention which includes individual and small group support from therapists based at Evelina Children's Hospital Speech Therapy Department.
Our therapists assess the language needs of the children and set targets accordingly.
These targets are incorporated into the children’s Individual Learning Plans (IEPs) and are followed through in the classroom.
We use Makaton (a system of signing) as a visual communication aid to support the language skills of the children as well as a range of visual aids.
All staff in the Centre are required to complete training in speech and language development and Makaton.
